Handy Don 12,232 #2 Posted October 7, 2023 It looks like the remains of one to me. Delaware bay/estuary? In NY, the Dept of Environmental Conservation asks anyone who finds a sturgeon to take photos and report its location. The Hudson River Estuary has historically been a major habitat for them but pollution, construction, overfishing, and speedboat traffic have hurt the numbers dramatically. Two years ago when out rowing I found a 5 foot specimen that had been killed by a propeller strike. 2

Ed Kennell 38,177 #4 Posted October 8, 2023 Still no response from Delaware DNR. The sturgeon carcass was gone this AM. Left with the outgoing tide. I was hoping DNR would investigate and possibly share information. I know some of the fish are tagged and tracked. I have found and reported several tagged horseshoe crabs and always got replies and rewards from DNR. delaware sturgeon tagging - Search (bing.com) delaware horseshoe crab tagging - Search (bing.com)

The head and tail were missing and the remaining body was about 5' long and probably weighed 100 lbs.
