Poppa Bear 15 #1 Posted October 7, 2023 Running a WH 12 Auto - that has been converted to a 3 speed standard. My issue - the rear fender assembly. When I lift the rear seat fender pan assembly it rests on the tires - to the point of causing the pan to bend. Obviously this tractor has been modified, (3 speed tranny in an automatic - got it that way). Am I missing something - with the fender pan resting on the tires when it is opened or is this just the way this tractor was built? Seems a little odd to me that a body panel would end up resting with pressure on the tires when opened. Thanks in advance for your insight and knowledge. Cheers, Barry
ebinmaine 67,441 #2 Posted October 7, 2023 All normal Barry. We have a dozen Wheelhorses from 1965 to 1975 and they all have the rear fender hit the rear tire when tilted up. Just remember to keep the machine from moving while the fender is up. No worries.
Ed Kennell 38,146 #4 Posted October 7, 2023 Yep, the fenders rest on the tires. Has nothing to do with the transmission. Just don't back up.
Poppa Bear 15 #5 Posted October 11, 2023 Hello Ed. I know - Tranny has nothing to do with seat pan - was just explaining my machine. And no - not my plan to back up with the fender/seat pan lifted. Seems like an odd design to me - but, it is what it is.
