Rogue 0 #1 Posted August 16, 2009 Hi, @ Mods - if this is the wrong section or shouldn't be here at all... please feel free to delete or move. I will have no hard feelings towards you I don't know if this is the right place to put this... or for that matter if anyone here can help me on this. I have an old Craftsman Edger Eager-1 with a 3HP Tecumseh engine and carb. The edger wouldn't start so I brought over to the local service center and they rebuilt the carb. When I started it up it started to leak gas out the front of the carb. Brought it back, they rebuilt it again and told me there is very fine soot in the gas tank and that they got it as clean as they could but there is no way to repair this. Now the edger just pours gas out of the carb until the tank is empty and won't start at all. I should probably mention as it was explained to me... this is a diaphragm type. No float or bowl Pardon my limited understanding of this. Starting to read manuals regarding small engines carbs...etc. now. Something here doesn't sound right to me. Just seems a plastic gas tank cleaning and carb rebuild should technically fix this. I thought this would be a good little piece of equipment for me to work on and start to learn my way around small engines. Any thoughts, suggestions that can help me with this little ditty? Thank you in advance for any help you may be. Below are the part #'s in case they may be needed. canam1991 2 #2 Posted August 16, 2009 it sounds like the gas fumes in the tank are pressureizing and pussing the fuel through the carb maybe your gas cap is plug not letting the pressure out try putting a little gas in it and leaving the cap off and see if it continues to leak

clintonnut 126 #5 Posted August 18, 2009 I've torn apart some diaphragm carbs and they do have a needle and seat and if the needle lever isn't adjusted properly or the spring is missing behind the lever it will leak gas like you are saying. Charlie
