enamel 35 #1 Posted September 28, 2023 Sorry didn't know where else to post this But the is an air compressor. This is the main air feed line to the manifold and stuff. I haven't loosend it either. Reason I took it apart is I can hear a slow leak. I did soapy water on manifold and lines I could see,but the sound was coming from in the case so figured pressure switch. Then found this. I just assumed it shouldn't move. 20230927_2046011.mp4
JCM 9,413 #2 Posted September 28, 2023 What does the opposite end with the blue tape look like. I have never had one apart but it might be a flared connection because of the operating pressure ?

lynnmor 7,354 #4 Posted September 28, 2023 Of course it should be tight, most of the cheap compressors make no provision to deal with the vibration. A good compressor will have a coil of tubing that will flex to allow for the vibration.
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,102 #5 Posted September 28, 2023 Looks like the air intake. Should be tight with an air filter on the other end.
Kenneth R Cluley 535 #6 Posted September 28, 2023 (edited) That is like a ferrule that compresses on tube when tightened. Fault usually occurs at edge of ferrule, cracks. Check inside tube and you may see crack. Another trick is to shave a little off of end of tube to allow it to tighten a little more and seal. Think file or hack saw, doesn't require much taken off. enamel 35 #9 Posted September 29, 2023 OK,i put it back together whith out its case. Now I don't hear the leaks. I did remove the pipe and reinstalled it. So is it possible over the time of use the nut loosend up a tiny bit? Causing the leak. There is a clamp on the pressure switch also.
