Added a new toy to the garage tonight, picked up a B80 at an auction that needs help. So need to learn about the 80 and how to get it up and running. Any hints would be great....

Those little Kohler 8 HP engines are great. Torque is excellent for the size. Run smooth. Sips fuel.

Here's the thread for starting out with a good baseline on a tractor you don't know.

Give it a good Once over, twice. Double check the ends of ALL the wiring to avoid short circuits.

Rewire enough to see if the engine will run.

Then run down the list...

The B-80 is a nice little no frills machine that’s easy to work on.
 Mines a 1977 with an 8 speed.

Ok so now I’m sleep walking. Was wound up about saving this little guy I saw 80 and went B80 but went to get the pics and it’s a Ranger A800 little baby tractor. Still worth saving but sleep walking or what

Oops…not even close to a B-80!
Hopefully you didn’t overpay and it doesn’t take much $$ to get it running and hopefully cutting grass.

Update "It's Alive!!!'

Hooked up a small gas bottle - it's tank is split and in 5 min's it was running ! Running great I may add..

List of know parts that I will need, so far:

Air cleaner assembly and filter - orders for about $20

New tank

Min a cover for the points.. probably try to find the whole thing.

Front rubber

Seat

so I paid $60 for the tractor + what I have, so far, above. Didn't grab this for anything but to save, be the first tractor that I restored and maybe bring to next years show to ride around.. let the 520 and the Troybilt GTX do the work this is just a toy to learn with...

Congrats.  Fun either way.  Man steering wheels like that drive me nuts.  Previous owner may have been a gorilla:D.  Enjoy and keep us posted

      Hi All,
I have a question regarding doing an electric mod on my Wheelhorse A800 Ranger. What I wish to do is install some front headlights, rear brake lights, and indicators on all four corners i would also like to install a horn a some point but that can come later. I'm unsure on the best way of wiring this, what gauge wire to use, do I need a fuse if so what ampage and where also what size amp hour battery is best to use if I'm running these additions so i don't drain the battery. I understand more how I'm going to wire the indicators than how I'm going to get the break light to work but really require advice on both.
Thanks for you time in reading this.
