What cranking Amp battery is everyone using on an auto 16/ c 160.  Also what brand.  190 doesn't seem to turn it very well.  Saw a 320 cranking Amp.  Just curious.  The 341k is on a gt1142 so battery is where gas tank is on the auto 16.  Thanks.

I've been using Duracell from Batteries Plus or Sam's. 230 or 300 CCA. $50-$60

Inspect, clean and tighten ALL battery cable connections including grounds. If you have poor connections the CCA of a battery won't make a difference.

WHX??

I use these with no issues & get about 4-5 years out of one.

They also offer them in 300 & 350 CCA size. I used to run the 350 in snow machines as they need to start in cold temps. Now just keep trickle chargers on them. I have seen group 12 ones in over 400 CCA.

@Nathan W  https://www.autozone.com/test-scan-and-specialty-tools/battery-charger/p/battery-tender-12-volt-battery-charger-022-  have this on on my 3 horses , ty wrap plug in to choke cable , very easy plug in , shop around for pricing , you live in Illinois , gets cold . what you want is CCA , cold cranking amps , personally like Walmart , their 320 battery , is in the  50/ 52 $ range , good price / battery , in cold weather  , just plug in in , monitors itself . would also enhance / verify ,your rectifier / charge rate . so that it is charging your set up . use the repetition  of a problem , to make it go away , pete

It might also be time to give your starter some maintenance. The Kohler manual has a good section on this. You can get a brush and bushing rebuild kit from DB electric. These starters are really not hard to disassemble, clean and lube bushings.
The starter on my sons 312-8 seemed to be dragging or turning over slower. Pulled the starter and the brushes were worn down to almost nothing.

This is great info.  I have a k321. The starter is a 237510 part # if I'm taking the one off the k341. I Need to look up if it interchangeable. I got it on a b100 it's a 75 so short frame 1in axles not keeping it only the k321 on it.

@Nathan W

There is a “ High Mount” and Low Mount” starter on the Kohler K engines, easy to see the difference. Also count/compare the number of teeth on the starter gear to be sure they are the same.

The tractor battery they sell at Costco is an Interstate, and I get about 3 years out of it. Has 300 CCA's.  Bot one in March '23 for $33.  Works good.
