Nathan W 5 #1 Posted September 20, 2023 What cranking Amp battery is everyone using on an auto 16/ c 160. Also what brand. 190 doesn't seem to turn it very well. Saw a 320 cranking Amp. Just curious. The 341k is on a gt1142 so battery is where gas tank is on the auto 16. Thanks.

If you have poor connections the CCA of a battery won't make a difference.
WHX?? 48,815 #7 Posted September 20, 2023 I use these with no issues & get about 4-5 years out of one. https://www.fleetfarm.com/detail/road-runner-lawn-garden-battery-grp-12-12-mo-230-cca/0000000218452 They also offer them in 300 & 350 CCA size. I used to run the 350 in snow machines as they need to start in cold temps. Now just keep trickle chargers on them. I have seen group 12 ones in over 400 CCA.

oliver2-44 9,740 #9 Posted September 20, 2023 It might also be time to give your starter some maintenance. The Kohler manual has a good section on this. You can get a brush and bushing rebuild kit from DB electric. These starters are really not hard to disassemble, clean and lube bushings. The starter on my sons 312-8 seemed to be dragging or turning over slower. Pulled the starter and the brushes were worn down to almost nothing.
Nathan W 5 #10 Posted September 20, 2023 This is great info. I have a k321. The starter is a 237510 part # if I'm taking the one off the k341. I Need to look up if it interchangeable. I got it on a b100 it's a 75 so short frame 1in axles not keeping it only the k321 on it.
oliver2-44 9,740 #11 Posted September 20, 2023 @Nathan W There is a “ High Mount” and Low Mount” starter on the Kohler K engines, easy to see the difference. Also count/compare the number of teeth on the starter gear to be sure they are the same. 1
hotajax 223 #12 Posted September 20, 2023 (edited) The tractor battery they sell at Costco is an Interstate, and I get about 3 years out of it. Has 300 CCA's. Bot one in March '23 for $33. Works good. Edited September 20, 2023 by hotajax
