Sparky-(Admin) 21,318 #1 Posted September 18, 2023 So, the Magnum 8 on my 308 is original and bone stock. When the factory headlights are turned on their brightness is increased or decreased by the engines RPM’s. Pretty sure the Briggs powered Wheel Horses operate the same way. Has anyone swapped in LED headlights? And how did they operate thru the different RPM ranges?
peter lena 8,631 #2 Posted September 18, 2023 @Sparky have LED headlights on my c-85 , 12 hp magnum , strong steady light , also have another ground wire going to electrical RECTIFIER , screw mounting point , from battery ground bolt point , constant steady light , also LED TAIL LIGHTS , very low amp draw, pete
Moparfanforever 846 #3 Posted September 18, 2023 I put LED lights on my GT1848 but I just run a wire thru a fuse and toggle switch right to the + side of the battery. Yeah, I am lazy.

Your lights maintain the same intensity no matter what RPM’s you’re running.

Bill D 1,922 #7 Posted September 19, 2023 I'd pull the flywheel and change the stator to a 20 amp with separate rectifier. That will keep the battery charged inspite of the load from the added lights. Did you swap wiring harnesses? Probably different from the 308-8 to the 312-8.

( No diode in the line ) The light bulbs don't care if they are AC or DC. Are the Kohler's with a separate lighting circuit run the same way?

I believe it is the same…AC for the lights, DC for the batt charging.
