Tecumseh 10hp

I picked up a tecumseh 10 hp engine I can't verify the proper serial number an I'm hoping it's just a hm100. From my own on searching that's all I can find. Problem I have is it has a generator crankshaft which is tapered from 1 inch to 5/8. And it does not have a key way.

I want to motor swap my wheelhorse From the blown 6 hp to the 10. Is it easier to buy a new pulley and machine the taper. Will the pulley function without the keyway and just press it on. Or

buy a new crankshaft? With the 1inch output shaft.

What besides the bolt on the end of the adapter holds the pulley in place. Will it slip ? The Centrifical force of it spinning actually hold it in place and not just spin off?

I have one of these adaptors on a 10hp diesel engine and have never had it slip. The bolt on the end is all that is needed. Just for good measure though I put some green Loctite 64040 (sleeve retainer) on my crank shaft when I installed the sleeve.

WHX??

Use the green loctite Kirbs they say it's on forever.

Little :text-offtopic: but ? @Achto... how is a tapered shaft secured to a genny armature with no keyway?

Having a hard time seeing how they bolt the rotating mass to it?

Not unlike pushing an electric clutch off a straight crankshaft.

The taper keeps it aligned, the bolt keeps it snug on the taper.

The bearing on the end of the rotor supports during rotation.

What amazed me about this video is that he did this on the floor and not on a bench. My back and knees were feeling pain watching!
