Where can I get a new one??

Recommended Posts

Mike_eash

Hi guys

I am almost done restoring my charger 10. I have had no problem finding decals, new headlight lens etc.

However I can't find a center shifter cover ( Not sure of the correct name for it) I will attach a picture

Anybody know where to get a new one or a decent used one mine has seen its better days and I can't find one anywhere

Thank you in advance!

My thoughts exactly I already have a similar decal and a piece of steel

But really would like the same one if possible

Some of the plastics will soften if boiled in water. Boil it and have a sturdy flat item to sit on it until it cools and see if it flattens out. I would not use to heavy of an item because you don't want to loose the raised edges. Then paint or use permanent markers to color the raised areas.

I think it’s called a cam plate cover, as it covers the shifting cam on the hydro pump. Yours is the plastic type, they expand and crack. My buddy has one on his gt 14 that has the corners just cracking. If you have it tightened down correctly with the correct screws it wont warp/crack as badly. The one on my 1076 is thick durable metal and has a decal rather than plastic and essentially paint marker in place of the decal. Idk if it’s design choice was for Style or what but imo if they designed it right once… why not keep it the same instead of change it? I looked in the charger 10 manual written by the horse people themselves and they call it an “instruction plate”

@Wheel Horse 3D has been working on the plastic plates for the GT-14 and it seems that plastic shrinking like that is occuring with ABS plastic like yours is made of.

@Wheel Horse 3D is making me a new one. In the meantime I made one with a decal

It's made of wood as I am a woodworker by trade but should hold up long enough till I get my new one

Truth be told I like the decal better than the plastic Mike. I have lots of dash panels that look like your cam cover.

If I had the nerve to resto one and didn't have to worry about being orginal might be the route I go.

Looks great! I couldn’t even tell it wasn’t oem! Looks like the older metal style too.
