peter lena 8,608 #26 Posted September 5, 2023 @ohiofarmerhttps://www.totallybelted.com/lubriplate-chain-cable-fluid-11-oz-can-p1197.html this what I use , don't have any link pictures ( but I should have ) doing it regularly for all my driving days , the chain / cable spray will creep into any body seam , closed joint , tail gate , door bottom , suspension area , like that as the penetrant / creeper , next day every related seam is oil wet , then the heavier oil / open gear spray , will not quit , it will stay and seal off anything its sprayed on / into . any time its back on a lift for service , always have spare cans , for possible touch up , but rarely needed . fender well lips / edges , every time I see a pretty new truck with the , yellow / orange rust band starting , thinking its not difficult to prevent / stop that . the place above has very good prices , my grandson recently bought a 30 year old mercury , calif, car 54 k original miles, old man . hope to get on that when he comes home on leave , base line get an oil creep on every seam/ joint , suspension , then over spray with heavier lube , pete
ohiofarmer 3,265 #27 Posted September 6, 2023 Thank you, Peter. The only thing I would add is that brake lines rusting out in Ohio was pretty much unheard of until the state started spraying liquid calcium on the roads prior to snow arriving. Now they spray bridges and overpasses for just light frost It has gotten so bad that I can see every blade of grass in the yard and they are out. We are the last state road around to get plowed because of low traffic, but I have noticed that at night and weekends they just keep running out route to build overtime just plowing air. peter lena 8,608 #28 Posted September 6, 2023 @jonw440 agree with you on the " NEW HAMPSHIRE UNDRECOATNG ", its the creeping , soaking effect that does it , when you think about it , its not that difficult , ideally a car lift , Tyvek suit , face shield gloves , done this many times . also found that once done very rarely find anything rusting , wash my cars , and underside , hose down , snoop around a look at what's going on , stay interested in it . that oil metal / paint feed , led me into , paint restoration , on my horses , no rust/ rot , solid clean paint , go oily , pete
