Hi all, as mentioned in another topic I visited the local harvest-show in Onstwedde again. I brought my mini International 1468 with me and got set up at around 9 in the morning. Gates opened at 10.

It was a bit overcast and wet at the beginning but it turned out to be a nice and sunny day for the most part.

All set up, waiting for the folks to come in and say Hi.

 

 

This 1/3rd scale stationary thresher is built by my dads grandpa (who has passed away) and is now owned by my dad's uncle.

He tours the country with it and displays it on several shows. It actually works and my dad's grandpa used it to harvest beans.

The steam tractor that powers it is not my dad's uncle's but happened to be there aswell so they thought let's see if the tractor can power the thresher. Worked flawlessly.

 

 

Besides the small tresher there's always a real one setup aswell. They thresh grain and bale the straw with the attached baler. 

Powered by a flat belt off a vintage Hanomag tractor.

 

Threshing machine, Dutch built out of the province of Groningen.

 

Straw baler. The bales are manually tied and knotten.

 

This apparatus was placed before the thresher. Not 100 percent sure what it does but it seemed it gets rid of excess chaff and other unwanted debris.

 

Who can guess what these are and/or what they're used for?

 

Vintage DAF truck. Dutch truck brand. This one was very nicely restored. 

 

And another one, this one obviously for military use. Note the second axle which is free rolling. This helped it conquer dunes and tranches in rough conditions. My granddad used to operate one of these.

 

Also no big center differential on the back axles but driveshafts coming directly from the main gearbox. The shock is the rear of the vehicle. I guess they went this route for maximum ground clearance and articulation.

Ofcourse I brought my machine out. Got great comments on it again. The best reactions gotta be when kids come up to it and ask if they can sit on it and have their picture taken.

 

 

 

A better picture of the awesome little steam tractor. It runs off of coal just like the real thing. The owner said it weighs about 1500lbs with all the fluids on board and can pull about 6000lbs!

 

Fleamarket with live entertainment. Bit lower turn out than previous years.

 

Waiting line for the freshly stone-oven baked bread. Max purchase is limited to two breads per person since these are so popular people tend(ed) to 'hoard' them.

I just love seeing all the different tractors that have been made aroung the world.  Thank you for taking us with you!!!  

The Lanz Bulldogs are something I have not seen before...WOW!!!  And the 3rd size thresher...fantastic!!

Thanks for all the photos . I love looking at tractors and automobiles from across the pond. Did not know that Volvo manufactured tractors.

Anyone who's watched the Clarkson's Farm show knows that Lamborghini makes tractors - that guy had a huge one that supposedly cost about $55,000 (which actually seems pretty reasonable to me, for what it is). Didn't know they started in 1948.  I had to google that to see.  

 

I really enjoyed seeing all these machines, Mark, and yours is pretty awesome.   I just showed it to my wife, when she came over to see what "tractor porn" I was looking at.

The company which is known as Valtra today has it's origin in the Bolinder Munktell company if i'm not mistaken.

Volvo was a part of that concern before it merged into Valtra/Valmet.

Really interesting to see the tractor show across the pond. Thanks for sharing!

The John Deere model you were unsure of is a B John Deere I believe. I spent many long hours on our old B John Deere. Whenever the battery went dead we would just park it on a hill, let it roll and pop the hand clutch to get her fired up. Nothing like the "tut,tut,tut" of an old John Deere.
