MAWHguy2019 21 #1 Posted August 24, 2023 Hi everyone, looking to get some opinions on whether I should begin to search for a blower attachment for my 312-8. I will likely be doing at least two more smaller yards (3/4 acre) and understand that these work well for dry leaf cleanup. What is everyone's experience? Alternatively, I could blow many of the leaves and simply drive over the rest to mulch them back into the turf. Finally, any maintenance concerns with these attachments I need to know about? Pullstart 62,902 #2 Posted August 24, 2023 @953 nut has one he built from an old furnace squirrel cage and some vent elbows. It sounds like it does a swell job!
Ed Kennell 38,181 #3 Posted August 24, 2023 I built one from a furnace blower for fun. It worked good, but Mother Nature blew all my leaves away before I could get to them. I sold it at this years Big Show. 1
MAWHguy2019 21 #4 Posted August 25, 2023 Ed, that is way cool! Actually, I was thinking of the vacuum-type that attaches to the 42 in deck. Thoughts?
Ed Kennell 38,181 #5 Posted August 25, 2023 I really don't have any experience with lawn vacs. When my grass gets too long to use the rear discharge deck, I go to the side discharge and blow the grass into windrows. Then use the sweeper to gather it up. If I were maintaining multiple yards and had the room to store it, I would probably go with a combo chipper/vac. like this.
CCW 1,295 #6 Posted August 25, 2023 Recently purchased an Ohio Steel lawn sweeper at TSC for grass cleanup. It works great and will try it on my leaves this fall.
JCM 9,168 #7 Posted August 25, 2023 I used a lawn sweeper for many years at my last house with the 520. It was made by CASE / orange color. It worked very well and laid down the stripes too. I also used a Peco bagger that does work good but the extra maintenance and listening to a 5 HP and a 20 HP simultaneously were a bit much as well as fuel consumption. Good luck with your sweeper.
