Scrap-Lord 9 #1 Posted August 23, 2023 Either beforehand or during disassembly the pick up tube for my Nikki 146-0479 carburetor snapped off! I have an extra carburetor (146-7000 emissions type) but it is slightly different. Can't seem to get the pickup tube out with out further destroying it. How SOL am I? Is my best option to replace the top of the carb with a Chinese copy? Wheel Horse 520-H with a 20hp Onan 1992 model.
Gasaholic 238 #2 Posted August 23, 2023 Those brass tubes are press-fit while carburetor body is still hot, so unless you have means to heat the body to near (but not quite) melting point I doubt you can remove the tubes without damage to them, then there'd be the trick to install them - factory will use a precision press die that fits the tube like a glove and very precisely pressed square in, so I'd say time for new carburetor (or if you're lucky, a good used one) , unfortunately.
