squonk 41,118 #4 Posted August 18, 2023 (edited) I had an 83 Goldwing Aspencade. Had 28,000 on it. Made many trips from Central NY. down to PA on RT. 6. We would always stop at Larry's Sport's Center (HD dealer). A salesman would always come running out and say "Who's got the Goldwing" Then try to sell me a bike. I would always say "No thanks I want to make it home!" Edited August 18, 2023 by squonk 1

Loved the bike - it was following a 1981 Silverwing GL-500 that I had for about 18 years, and that was my 5th bike I think. Unfortunately too many things started going wrong at once, my Ex (wife at the time) was spending all our money on horses, so I didn't have the cash to fix it so I let it go. This was a sweet machine.... I miss it. 1 2

Woods gear cams, etc. Runs 2800 rpm at 80 MPH. Have dusted a few crotch rockets with it....love the look on their faces. 1

Yeah, I would have loved to have a Goldwing back then but no way I could afford one. I paid about $2200 for that Silverwing, brand new (leftover model). That bike saw many miles of East Texas roads, then more back in PA/NJ. I think I still got $350 for it, 18 years old and 35-40K miles on it. Bought the Goldwing for $5000 around 1999 or so, and had that for at least 10 years.
