Help Please? Cleaned critter remnants and some grease now ignition has nothing.

Any advice/help here would be appreciated. Recently acquired another C-160 with some nice patina. It was completely gone over and running great and took some degreaser and hose to some remnants of come critter nests behind the gas tank and then cleaned up some grease around the motor. I covered the spark plug on top. Now I have nothing when I turn the key. What did I get wet that I shouldn't have? I sprayed the ignition plug behind the key with WD-40 but it definitely got wet. Did screw something up or do I just let it dry? Thanks in advance!

Water and electric do not mix well. Let it dry out maybe some compressed air.  When it runs again take all connections apart clean them and apply some dielectric grease.

WHX??

Probably not your fault with the bath. I'd done the same. With the bath you might have further undid what critters (mice, mud daubers etc) started.

Run through all your wiring.

I pressure wash all my horses with no issues but on @ebinmaine s new to me list includes checking all wiring... or should.

Yeah buddy it's on there in a few forms.

Wiring and cleanliness are mentioned in different ways.

I may be in the wrong here, but occasionally if I know the air filter got wet, I get it running and dry out the insides asap.  Sometimes compressed air is the best way to get the stuff dry to get it rolling again.

I agree with you .  I rarely apply much water to my workers.  I blow the grass dust and dirt off with compressed air.  If you use water and do not get all the grass / dirt out of some small spaces / hidden areas you have a wet mess that will cause rust. Some moisture is bound to get in to electrical connections, air doesn't bother them  (except I have gotten too close with my non-OSHA blow gun and disconnected a couple over the years:P)

Take the cover off of your ignition points and blow away any moisture that may be in there. Another good place to look would be the condenser, remove the lead from the ignition coil to condenser and if you have spark then water got into the condenser and has ruined it. Always install a condenser with the wire pointing downward to prevent water intrusion.
