5151 11 #1 Posted August 9, 2023 (edited) While waiting for my new lining to arrive, going through this and have a question. Is the brake pivot bushing (stepped) supposed to protrude through the bracket the band fastens to (TO109366), so much so that the whole assembly is pretty floppy? Almost seems to me it could be shimmed with a washer. I know it needs to move freely. Oh and. 3112keo1 Is the 7th didgit a zero or an O as in Ohio. Zero 31 is the model series (300 series) 12 is the horsepower K indicates Kohler/Kawasaki engine (and an O as in Ohio would indicate Onan engine, B indicating Briggs & Stratton) E indicates Eaton hydrostatic drive (S indicating Sundstrand, with 8 indicating the 8 speed unidrive) and then there's the 01 which is usually just the revision of a model (typically minor revisions) if I recall correctly Brake can be floppy but wear - even a little, can make it more so. New bushing likely would help some, and you can always shim it up if it bothers you. Edited August 9, 2023 by Gasaholic
5151 11 #3 Posted August 9, 2023 Thanks, I found an extra wave washer from the drive idler shaft. Fits the step bushing and makes me happier. With the flop gone I may just run existing brake lining awhile. Brakes adjusted right up. And thanks for the model info, going to write that down.

5151 11 #6 Posted August 11, 2023 To adjust this brake, I Loosen the 9/16 lock mut on the large spring until I can engage the parking brake. Then another half turn loose. Is this correct? If the answer is "It's in the manual". Cpuld someone please tell the name of this manual.
rmaynard 15,583 #7 Posted August 11, 2023 You will have to search in the manuals section of this forum. According to your info you have a 1990 312H. Start there and download the manual.
5151 11 #8 Posted August 11, 2023 Thanks. If you are referring to "wheel horse manuals" section, I have spent hours there chasing the sideways Vs and have not found one. Maybe my electronic communication device needs the adjustment.
rmaynard 15,583 #9 Posted August 11, 2023 Here is your owners manual. Adjustment is on page 17.
5151 11 #10 Posted August 11, 2023 Thanks RMaynard, I've been hunting for this for years. Either I'm too dense to find it or it's a secret.
rmaynard 15,583 #11 Posted August 11, 2023 (edited) Don't feel bad about not finding it. My biggest gripe about our manuals section is that you cannot search specifically within a category. Edited August 11, 2023 by rmaynard
