Storm Report

Hope you all survived with minimal damage.

I lost a few apples, pears, plums, and maple tree limbs, but no significant damage.     Lost WiFi yesterday...no phone, TV, or Red Square, but I never lost power like so many in the area.

Comcast came back on line moments ago.

How did you fare?

@Ed Kennell  morning ED , had light rain over night , but just started coming down very heavy in short  bursts , since our power power grid maintiance has stepped up , with more area line truck  parking , supply related equipment , in a lock down  , containment center , response is faster / better , sparky pete

There was tornado damage about an hour south of here, in Paoli IN, Sunday night, but it wasn't bad here. Heavy rain, some wind, no power loss.

It missed us, in looking at the radar we duck right in between 2 cells. Just a little wind and some rain.

Overall, had about 2" of rain, and some of that was pretty heavy downpours.  Lost power for a couple of hours, but other than that all is well.

Yesterday my wife and I went out to lunch with some good friends, first social outing for me since the stroke. While at the restaurant we had a torrential downpour with a couple of microbursts but they never lost power and we just enjoyed the extra time for conversation. By two pm it had cleared up enough to head home. Our creek was running as hard as I've ever seen it but no damage at all. About four pm the second wave of the storm hit which seemed to be stronger than the first wave but only lasted a half hour. There are a few small branches down but nothing too bad.

Gathering up downed limbs and surveying for roof damage.  All looks good, except for this guy that  I failed to bring inside.  He lost an ear and afoot.

This tornado was just forming as it passed behind my daughters house Sunday evening. Less than a mile from me. Video shows it spinning and it touched down a mile away…. Scary!

My electric and internet has been down since the storm, they have no guesses when they will be restored.  Since my house phone uses the internet it is out as well.  My connection to the world is just this phone.

I drove over to the Strasburg area and got gas on the way back, first station was down with no power and the second had lines of folks like me with gas cans.  From Collinsville to Muddy Run there was significant damage.  There are a number of roads closed or one lane.

I didn’t take a walk around my place yet but I do see several large limbs down.

My road (Brownton) is still closed with a power line down on the Pine Run bridge.     West Broadway in Red lion is closed.   Severe damage in Stewartstown.

I never lost power, but like you My phone, WiFi and Tv are on Comcast.     It was down from when the storm hit yesterday until 10AM this morning, and has been on and off since then.

Back to civilization, power, internet & phone can fully annoy me again.

Some information that might help others with a generator;  my Tecumseh engine started to sputter every minute or so.  I replaced the spark plug but that didn't help, then I noticed the rocker switch blinking like it was low in oil.  I checked it and the level was at the mid point of the safe area but I still filled it to the maximum line.  The problem went away so the low oil sensor must be knackered so I ordered one.  A quick temporary fix is just cutting the wire till the switch can be replaced.

Glad to hear ya'll are OK, with just tree damage.

We sure could use some of hat rain down here.

No rain since late May and the large storage lakes are very low.  Back in February most of the farmers in the lower river valley were notified they would not get irrigation water.  Some farmers have Senior Water Rights dating before the dams and they still get to pump some of the "natural flow" of the river.
