Bill D 1,921 #1 Posted August 7, 2023 Has anyone here bought stuff from JThomas Parts. I tried ordering from them, but their website wouldn't accept my PO Box for a billing address. I called them to place an order but was told they don't sell to the public. Anyone here have experience with them?
Moonshine*Connoisseur 435 #2 Posted August 7, 2023 I have no experience with them but they are similar to Stens Corp. You have to set up a business account with them and stock a certain percentage of parts like a dealer.
Gasaholic 224 #3 Posted August 7, 2023 Easy enough in many states to get a sales tax license, file reports for a year for the Use Tax (In some states you have to pay the sales tax if the seller does not collect it from you, and you don't resell the parts and collect tax on it) long enough to get your account set up with Stens and other distributors. Once you let the license expire and no longer file tax returns, you won't be able to "keep up" your registration with the distributor so they will start charging sales tax (they have to) but your account will remain open and accessible from most (but not all) distributors. I still have 2 or 3 accounts including stens that I order from now and then, even though I have not been in business for 3 going on 4 years now.. paying the sales tax to them is a lot less hassle than filing use tax returns.
