scrams8g 7 #1 Posted August 4, 2023 I had to sign up with Red Square to share this one. I went through all the checks to see where the fault was in the cranking system. I tested continuity on the seat switch, shift handle, and the p.t.o. lever. After scratching my head for awhile I couldn't understand how both micro switches and the seat switch could pass the test and still not have power at the p.to. micro switch. It turns out that the shift handle micro switch is mounted up side down with the arm on the bottom. For some reason the arm started drooping down so much that it went under the actuator detente where it became useless. I replaced the switch and it worked fine after that. Also not all the micro switches are the same. You have to have one with a hook on the end of the lever. I hope this helps someone. 3
Ed Kennell 38,182 #2 Posted August 4, 2023 to the Scram. That PTO system causes a lot of no crank problems. Some members run out of fuel while mowing, then have a no crank after refueling. After checking the battery, solenoid, starter, and switch, they disengage the PTO and away we go.
8ntruck 7,007 #3 Posted August 4, 2023 I ran out of gas while mowing the other day. After refilling the tank, I checked the PTO lever and flipped it to the off position because I remembered the time I pushed the tractor uphill from the lake to my shop, about 120 yards, 'cause it was not starting only to find the PTO lever in the on position. Sounds like some “clever” PO decided to implement a subtle theft prevention system. 🤣
