stevebo-(Moderator) 8,330 #1 Posted August 1, 2023 All, Just picked up a 522xi that needs the foot control adjusted. When in park with parking brake engaged it wants to go in reverse. Forward is slow and back is fast. I need to get it to return to stationary. I have not even begin to look into if the adjustment is on top of tranny or perhaps below floorboard. Any help for those who have done the procedure would be appreciated. Thanks

JoeM 7,874 #3 Posted August 1, 2023 (edited) Its on the side behind the right tire. Run it around a bit to warm it up. put it on stands, remove the tire. The adjustment for neutral is in a hole and you will need to loosen the keeper bolt slightly to adjust. There is a reference notch. (you can turn the nut 180 if you suspect wear, mostly caused from using forward a lot more than reverse) After you get neutral sorted out you need to remove the center access cover and note if the linkage is hitting the brake return before the hydro is at the top of the stroke. This can be done not running. I have ground a little away from this area to allow the stoke to move higher in the notch. Lots. of machines out there like that. (That was what was wrong with the Jeep) I can get a pic today of that area. Worn hydro nut. Edited August 1, 2023 by Joey Small Block

First make sure you have full reverse with peddle pushed in the full reverse position. If not adjust the rod 1 in pic. After that push the pedal in full forward and see if the brake center is stopping the rod from having the full stroke. a little bit (like a 1/16 at a time) can be ground off with a die grinder of the #2 area to allow a longer stroke. this pic show when the pedal is full forward the area just touches.
