Wheelhorse C105 with 36 inch Rd deck blade direction reversed

Recommended Posts

Turf Racer

Hi everyone ! ...

I have just realised that my 36 inch deck is turning in the wrong direction wrt the blades (107435 etc ) so for some time i must of been cutting or smashing the grass with the back of the blades ...? 🤣😂🤣  This is very amusing to me as i have been using my wrecked c105 for 12 years now ... I JUST CANT BELIEVE IT 🤗🤣😂🤣 .

The deck belt is fitted correctly ...

Looking down onto the deck axis the belt turns the wheels in an anti clockwise direction , which means that the blades when viewed from the  ground upwards to the deck are turning in a clockwise direction which is the opposite direction needed for the blades ? ...

Looking from the ground upwards the blades are fitted with the higher lift parts upwards towards the underside of the deck (part nos  are downwards) which i believe is correct ? .

I recently replaced the deck belt and pto belt .

What have i done put the pto belt on wrong ? Any ideas how i achieved this ?

Odd…are you sure the blades aren’t just on upside down?
Pics of your setup would help.

Yes, the blades must turn CCW viewed from the bottom.

If yours are turning CW, you must have a twist in the belt between the PTO and the deck drive pulley.

This is a 42" rear discharge deck and the blades are the correct length.      Some length is lost after several sharpening, but they still cut OK.

There's a fairly easy way to get the PTO belt on wrong with a half twist, but it looks like you managed to find an alternate way to do it with a full twist. :bow-yellow: But before awarding you a medal for that, I notice a couple other things in the photo.  The trunnion that links the PTO hoop to the thrust shaft appears to be upside-down, and the engagement rod seems to be coming out at an odd angle.  I can't see enough of the rod to tell what happened there, but this whole setup might bear some re-evaluation. :eusa-think:

Ok thanks its always been like that works fine....luckily you cant see the alu bracket mod i did thats really original ...lol

Meanwhile the beast is cutting in a good direction with sharp bits like new almost and i managed to replace the 4 missing zergs today as well , only took me 8 years to get around to it .

The lawnmower is à death trap at the moment i need to replace the steering rods which are held down with wire locking etc ....but i go slow ... lol

If you have a pdf link Rick for the pto setup C105 10Hp please fire it at me or point me in the right direction and  ill do an eng réévaluation on the weird bit ?

I think im having a mid life crisis but thank god its a good ol wheelhorse going wrong ...

Couple shots of my C105 back when I mowed with it... No decks anymore - just snow duty... pretty far away but hope they help.

Maybe it's the angle or lighting of the photo, or my old eyes.  I thought the trunnion #29 looked upside

down, but looking closer think it's correct.  Found a drawing, thanks to PartsTree.

The Toro site is hard to find things anymore.

Still wondering about the rod #11, looks bent in the photo, maybe it's a bit of fisheye effect from the camera lens?

But I'm also a fan of whatever works, and been known to "improve" things myself.
