Hi

I am considering a wheel horse 416 with the kohler engine. I've had big trouble with Kohler sv600 courage and am hesitant. Looking for opinions on this engines reliability and known issues

Thanks

The Kohler Courage line was a huge failure for Kohler…so much that they changed the lines names to “hide” the fact that you were still buying a Courage.
The Kohler K series and Magnum series (not sure what you’re looking at) are in no way on the same low level as the Courage motors. And if you buy this tractor you’re talking about we are here to assist you should a hiccup happen.

Hey thanks for posting a response. It's aK 341s engine on a 416. I don't know how old it is but it's got an ignition coil on it so I assume there's a distributor and and points. And yes I'm very happy to hear they have nothing to do with that ridiculous courage engine. Once again thanks for your response and thanks for offering support I'm going to try and look at this tractor as soon as the guy gets back to me take care

Another positive vote for the Kohler single K341.

The 416 started out with Kohlers but switched to two-cylinder P216 Onans. I believe that was in ’88 or ’89?

If you get the model/serial numbers off the tractor, someone can nail it down for you.

With a one-cylinder engine, there is no distributor--the coil connects directly to the spark plug. There are points--very easily accessible and adjusted.

I have both a 70's C-160 and a newer 416-8 both with the K 341 and have nothing but the utmost respect for those beasts. I specifically wanted the 416 with the single Kohler, not the Onan, and mine does not have all the idiot lights. I'm a KISS guy and the K-341 does NOT disappoint.

I'm a KISS guy too and that's what attracted me to these Wheel Horses with K series engines

Thanks for your comments

Wait'll you get to running and working a Wheelhorse.

These tractors are beasts.

My Other Half and I have ... A few....

We do work them. MANY chores around the acreage.

You'll appreciate the simple yet excellent build quality for maintenance or if you do a restoration too.

We've done several.

If referring to the 16hp, don't you mean K341?

K361 was the single 18hp with overhead valves.
