Took me longer to find a vice grip than it did installing the tire.

I have used an old 6" C clamp to pinch the tire into the recess of the rim as i work the second bead into place... with good results.

I've used that method quite a few time on 4" and 8" wheels I also clamp a bar in the vice to hold the rim.

I use a piece of threaded rod with a couple of washers and nuts in the vise
