First post in a long time. My C145 was resting for a few yrs. But this morning I got it up and running and was running find and then all of a sudden the it shut down. Tried to start it back up. Nothing happened and also noticed that my headlights didn’t work anymore. Battery is out putting voltage but I the notice the 25 amp fuse housing was hot and partially melted. I looked at all the wires I could not find a short is it possible the ammeter cause the short? If so, what would be the best way to fix this as I imagine ammeters are hard to find for these tractors.

 Thanks

Removed the ammeter from the circuit, and the short has gone away.

Over heated fuse holders are caused by poor connections within the holder. Replace with a 30 amp holder but keep the 25 amp fuse. The 30 amp holder has heavier wire and stronger spring for better fuse contact.
