Axle making a squeaking sound

Hi I'm working on a Friends mower sorry can't remember model# (1970s 16 HP) but it has the Hydro Transaxle Like most older Wheelhorses with oil Filter

He says it work Fine But Axle squeaks when moving on 1 side

Any Ideas

Welcome.  The leak may be a result of the axle needle bearing failing.  Jack her up and see if there is any up/down front/rear movement in the wheel hub assembly.  If so need to replace the axle bearing.  1/8" or so of in/out movement is OK

You did not say anything was leaking ??  The seal can be changed with out removing or open the transmission.  A bearing change requires dropping and opening the trans.  It is not a hard job to do, but can be a little labor intensive.  I would look at the hubs to see if they are rubbing on the trans housing.  Check the drive belt and pullies under the belt guard.  Then check axle movement like Paul stated.  :occasion-xmas:  Oh...and check fluid level.

No Leaks I was wandering maybe the Hub has slid in and Rubbing I will check That
