tunahead72 2,412 #2 Posted July 18, 2023 Spur gears for the drive system of a self-propelled push mower maybe? Something like Troy-Bilt 717-1761 or 717-1762, but not quite?

lynnmor 7,306 #4 Posted July 18, 2023 It might be a pinion gear for a lawn sweeper, here is one style that doesn't have the straight portion:
Handy Don 12,232 #5 Posted July 21, 2023 (edited) Agreeing with all! This sort of gear on the ends of a self-propelled rotary or reel mower drive shaft, typically meshed with a recessed internal gear in a wheel, allowed the outside wheel on a turn to go faster than the driven inside wheel (a quasi-differential). Note that there is a left and right! Same in reverse (as @Achto notes) where the wheels are powering the broom on a sweeper -- it lets the inner wheel go slower than the driving outer wheel without scrubbing.
