Bought 48” side discharge deck what year and model?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys was wondering if someone could help identify which year this deck was made (couldn’t find a sticker anywhere on it), trying to get all new wheels and rollers for it as well as mowing blades. Bought this for my 94 520H.

Are the blades the same size for 42” rear discharge as this 48” side discharge?

much thanks!

No, the blades are not the same size.          To find replacement blades for an unidentified deck, it would be best to remove a blade and measure the length and document the mounting hole size and configuration..     Even if you identify the deck model number, it is possible the spindles and blades were changed at some point in time.

Do you have blades on the deck and they are just worn? If so take all 3 off and check each blade for dimensions, all to often the spindles will be different - one may have cratered and replaced with a different type.

If you dont have blades determine the diameter of the shaft and note if all 3 of the spindles are the same. If that is a bit confusing, take a picture of the bottom of the deck (you took great pics of the top of the deck) and one of us can probably help out more........

@gretle_2.0  having done a number of decks now , the out side of it is only the tip of the iceberg !  under side is  sparingly  , shown  because of issues . rusty  cracks , build up rot , blades heavily worn,  rough  noisy spindles . always show my sell items  off the tractor , to emphasize condition and regular maintiance . had to show a buyer , how a deck should be . kind of amaized at its easy function / condition . also gave him a suggested  info page on care . probably never get looked at again. pete

Here are some pictures of the bottom of the deck, I believe the blades are supposed to be 106637 if I’m not mistaken.

@gretle_2.0  would definetly replace those blades , looks like preveious owner gave that a black lubricant based covering , boy are you lucky!   would take advantage of that coating and give it a gear oil , brush down , to enhance it and fortify whats there . would also let that get hot in drying proped up to the sun , using the deck lift frame as a holding point , like this , been doing this for years , zero rot or issues . also prefer a hi temp grease , with a 550 + temp rating , for those spindles , and related idler pulleys . how do those blades / spindles sound when you spin them? the quieter , easier , smoother they move tells you the story . would like to think with current look , that its good . also a good time to re grease the muel drive bearings .  let me know , pete

You are correct on the blade part # ( 106637 ) , That deck could be from the late 70's thru the mid 80"s. Any earlier and it would have the " dd " style spindle shafts with the 2 pins on either side of the blade bolts , and if it were a newer deck from the Toro years it would have the reinforcing bar along the front leading edge. We have all the parts you would need in stock just about an hours drive away. :handgestures-thumbupright:
