formariz 11,987 #6 Posted July 15, 2023 Of course this 117 year old door jack is now resigned to only holding big heavy slabs. Not much of a retirement. Like us it seems that the older we get the more we have (or want) to do. I am glad I have the old friend to help me out. 5

This one I had for about 18 years along with the rest of the tree. It was a big ash milled into thick slabs for me. It yielded 12 slabs all 2-1/2” x20”x6’+am looking now for a couple of white oak ones. There are a couple of promising leads. Not easy getting thick wide stuff any more. Unfortunately a big percentage of it is found in residential areas and it get cut down into firewood.
