I have this governor cross shaft you think I can weld the plate on the shaft that hits the governor

That is a delicate part to weld - - - perhaps better to braze it ??? Either way, it needs to be absolutely clean prior to joining....

I braze all of mine on since I suck at welding. Most are loose and we don't want it falling off.
