Al C. 1,428 #1 Posted July 11, 2023 Recently I have needed to prime the fuel line before starting my Wheel Horse SK-486. There are no leaks, so I’m not sure what has changed. ebinmaine 67,455 #2 Posted July 11, 2023 Facet makes a good pump. Some things to consider first though. It's important to verify the actual issue. Disintegrating fuel line or dirty needle & seat and cause that issue. Do you use non-ethanol fuel? Many many moons ago a relatively sharp person taught me that we have to focus on doing the maintenance before we try doing any diagnostics or tossing Parts at things. Because of the fact that we've been trying to burn alcohol in our gasoline for a decade or more there will be different types of damage than what we were used to in the past. 4 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Help me understand what this realistically involves … removing, disassembling and cleaning the carburetor, removing, disassembling and cleaning the old fuel pump, replacing the old fuel lines to the gas tank ??? D_Mac 8,610 #8 Posted July 11, 2023 you can pull the fuel line at the carb and put the line in a jar, crank the engine and see how its pumping. peter lena 8,620 #12 Posted July 11, 2023 @ D-MAC agree with others on the fuel cleaning detail , https://www.amazon.com/CarBole-Universal-2-3-5P-S-I-Operating-Self-Priming/dp/B01IR6BNKY/ref=asc_df_B01IR6BNKY/?tag=hyprod- also have a couple of these in service model # P/N 42 S low pressure pump . noting your vertical run fuel hose , from pump to carb , have a vertical flow check valve in my 3 kohlers , evil energy brand , look at the staged fuel to your carb . BTW use ethenol fuel , but also use , sta bil storage treatment in all my fuel , no black rubber fuel hose breakdown in my filters , or fuel bowls . we all have our own set ups , regularly brought on by frequent failures . hope you make out , pete Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
