AMC RULES

Appears our local infrastructure took a major hit in yesterdays afternoon rainstorm.

Apparent now that if and when I can get back to work, it I'm going to be there for awhile.

Oh Boy, that's not good. That's a HUGE amount of rain in such a short time

Alerts are going off here on the TV all morning but don't think it's going to be as bad as you got it.

You're safe and good?

Be safe and careful out there Craig.

I've never experienced a rain like that but I saw the after results of it when one of the hurricanes went through Vermont and NH a decade or more ago.

Wow.  We’re more than 8” behind on rain, but would prefer that it is spread over some time…

Last weekend we had 4-5 inches of rain in two days and I thought that was a lot.

My heart goes out to all the people there who suffered damages from this rain, Craig. I hope you and the Mrs. are well and there is no damage to your home.

Amazing the destruction water can cause  and when harnessed, the constructive power of hydro.grandcoulee.jpg

Grand Coulee hydro turbines  producing 8,000,000 HP , generating enough electricity to supply two Seattle size cities.

Be safe Craig...hope you didn't suffer any personal property damage.        We are expecting severe flooding here along the lower Susquehanna River in a few days.    The enter river basin through central Pa. got 6-8" of rain yesterday.

We are dying for rain here in central MD. Everything is so dry. Yesterday looked like the best chance in weeks. It started to rain lightly as we left the house for Shrewsbury, PA, 29 miles northeast. The rain increased until at about 2 PM, where it was coming down at a rate of 4 inches per hour in the Shrewsbury area. As we headed home, the rain decreased. It stopped about 10 miles from home where we had gotten maybe a trace amount. Funny how nature works.

My in laws got about 6.5 inches from 1130am to roughly 1245pm. Took out our bridge at camp and there were places flooded I've never seen flooded in my 33 years of life. At my house just 8 miles up the road we only had 2 inches all day.

Train service is currently suspended between Poughkeepsie and Croton Harmon.  I made it from Poughkeepsie to Beacon yesterday before my train was terminated.  Took the train back to Poughkeepsie and spent the rest of the day on standby.

Thanks John, me too.  Glad I didn't get caught out in the worst of it like the train before mine did.  Feel sorry for the passengers and crew of that train.

100 year flood event?

We had something similar in the 80's but it rained for a solid week and some called it a 500 year event.

@AMC RULES I’m guessing Craig is still at work fixing washouts because we haven’t gotten an update?

I imagine he's working from can't see to can't see.   (Southern expression for Sun Up to Sun Down)
