Chris G 3,296 #26 Posted July 13, 2023 Those running boards on the one I had were just some homemade deals. I don't believe they were factory because you couldn't lift the mower deck up with them. But as far as the square pan seat being that olive drab green color, I can't speak for that not being factory or being factory because I have had several square pan seats on wheel horses and a few others that were the same color. 3
CasualObserver 3,408 #27 Posted July 13, 2023 @Chris G I believe you have another one of these special purpose after-market modified machines. I've done a little more digging myself, and your tractor was built and shipped on 3/15/63 to Hagie Manufacturing Co... in none other than, Clarion, Iowa! Same place as the sticker on this green tractor. The same company is still in business today, they manufacture sprayers and other ag equipment here in the midwest. Maybe @WHX?? feels like calling them to see if he can drum up an old timer who might know something? Those foot rests may look homemade because they were made there, in house.. That's why they have the exact same profile, rounded corners, rolled outside edge, and little tail at the back. You also had many of the same/similar holes in the hood. The one in the center of your hood looks to have been filled with a plug. I'd bet that at one time your tractor had been set up with the same, or similar equipment, and that at some point, yours was repurposed back to lawn duty. They had to fab makeshift brackets to hold the rear of footrests because the apparatus framework was gone.
WHX?? 48,821 #28 Posted July 13, 2023 (edited) Thank you Jason. I agree with your comments 100%. We surmised the holes in the hood is where detection equipment might have been mounted. The larger hole in the middle did have a rolled edge. Appears Chris has a plug in his. A call to this Hagie Co. https://www.hagie.com/ is in order. If they are/were indeed connected to Detecto perhaps they have something (literature ?) in their archives. The Iowa boys did mention it had a seat cover and backrest on it that were too far gone. Coincidence Chris's saddle has the same or speced? ? Jason how did you find out the tractor was shipped to them? Edited July 13, 2023 by WHX??

WHX?? 48,821 #34 Posted July 14, 2023 A call to this Hagie Mfg. Resulted in finding out one thing. They are owned by JD... go figure. We know how secretive they are. Going to fling out a couple of emails see what that yields.
c-series don 8,708 #35 Posted July 15, 2023 I’m with everyone else, I mean what are the odds that the history of this tractor come to life and are revealed? Very, very cool 👍🏻
Chris G 3,296 #36 Posted July 15, 2023 No I don't still have that one. But I do know who has it. I sold it to a friend for his grandson who has been using it religiously to mow their lawn and plow the driveway. But I I'm almost certain I have the hood with the holes the belt guard and the footrest in my storage. And possibly the motor because the connecting rod was broke when I got it. WHX?? 48,821 #37 Posted July 15, 2023 Might want to call dibs on it with your friend Chris. Grandson outgrows it. Sounds like it might be a special tractor.
