D_Mac 8,619 #10 Posted July 7, 2023 I'm not a parts seller. To me it would be yard art or I'd get in running. In either case I can't spend the 150

Handy Don 12,232 #14 Posted July 7, 2023 $1 per pound around here is for clean steel. When you throw in plastic and rubber (i.e. commingled) and it needs separating, the price drops to 50¢ or less per pound. The only significant amount of high-value metal there is the copper winding in the S/G and that takes effort to isolate. That yard will clear no more than $50 in scrap value for that machine. 1
Handy Don 12,232 #15 Posted July 7, 2023 (edited) Just noticed the newer PTO clutch setup to the older style deck. Of course, that machine weighs more like 400 lbs, too. Edited July 7, 2023 by Handy Don
squonk 41,129 #16 Posted July 7, 2023 If I didn't have to spend $40 in gas I'd think about it. Trans is prolly full of water. Notice the shift boot. Missing some Genny brackets. Rare RL-367 that is probably junk. wrong hood decals but hood is whupped anyway
D_Mac 8,619 #17 Posted July 7, 2023 Yeah had to leave it. They wouldn't budge off the 150. The bent the dash tower picking it up off the pile. Told them I'd do 75 but they refused. Hurts me to leave it but it is what it is. 1

c-series don 8,708 #19 Posted July 7, 2023 (edited) Greed, that’s what that is. I understand they’re in business to make money but c’mon. I’d tell them to keep it. Guys, please don’t take this the wrong way but at this stage of my life I’m past having junk in it. Edited July 7, 2023 by c-series don 1
squonk 41,129 #20 Posted July 7, 2023 Most of the junkyards charge like that if they would even take it off the pile and sell it. if you think that's bad, We have a u pull it yard near me and there was a complete B 80 there. I was there to get a couple of knobs and handles They wouldn't sell the whole tractor as a unit per weight but they would sell it pieced. I.e. the engine is X amount. The starter on it was Y amount. The muffler was Z amount ect. I had to pull the engine myself as it was too nice to pass up. I had to pay $150 for the engine and starter and they were "nice guys" and let me have the pot muffler for free. Engine was good and with a little polishing I made $100 off of it when I was done.
moe1965 738 #21 Posted July 8, 2023 That's a shame. Hate to see that happen. But I'm sure it happens every day☹️
JimSraj 430 #22 Posted July 8, 2023 What a shame. Those 6 speed transmissions aren’t easy to come by.

ri702bill 8,327 #24 Posted July 8, 2023 I was fortunate to rescue what apperaed to be a low hour C-81 roller from a local scrap recycling yard. They buy all sorts of scrap, and they cull out all the potential saleable outdoor power items and have them in a row for inspection. The same with cars and trucks they buy - they do NOT sell individual parts, you have to buy and remove that entire item. It was a well cared for roller that someone grabbed the K181 for their use and scrapped the rest. I wanted it for the 8 speed - much to my delight, the shift boot, though old, was intact - the dipstick showed the gear oil was clean, full, and no evidence of water after I rolled it about 20 feet.I went into my 854.... 6

No offense taken here. As we transfer parts, tools and supplies from the old outdoor workshop and basement workshop we've been doing some whittling down of our own. As is stands I have 4 factory built Horses and Colossus as future projects. Trina has 3 of her own to do. Then implements. ..... And the truck..... Not to mention the absolute myriad of daily things .... It's a shame to see a good pile o parts go out of circulation but as pointed out above, all would need work just for use. 3
