Sparky-(Admin) 21,315 #1 Posted July 3, 2023 Been considering trying dual 6x12’s on my mutt tractor. Kinda bored with the 23x10.5 Carlisle AG’s that have been on it awhile. I had a pair of tires and recently picked up a matching pair from @TonyToro & @TonyToro Jr.. Bought these rings from @Pullstart at the WHS and today was the day to get em installed. Wanted the space between rubber to be tight, Kevin cut them narrow, but I wanted tighter so off came almost another 3/8”. Hit em with sandpaper and a quick coat of flat red. Four 1/2”x8” pieces of all-thread per side and here’s the finished product. Might swap the fronts for something a bit wider. 10
Pullstart 62,840 #2 Posted July 3, 2023 Geesh, if I’d have known you were tired of those ags, I’d have generously traded you straight up for the spacers!
JoeM 7,873 #3 Posted July 3, 2023 Made the machine look better! That tread is cool. 1
ebinmaine 67,455 #4 Posted July 3, 2023 Remember to knock the air pressure way way down in that outside Tire and maybe keep the inside one up pretty tight. 12, 15 lb. 3
littleredrider 409 #5 Posted July 3, 2023 I've always liked duals on round fender'd tractors. If I find a set for my 606 I might go this route too!!! With ag's tho 3
c-series don 8,690 #6 Posted July 3, 2023 @Sparky @Pullstart Too late Kevin, and now it would cost way too much to ship them to Michigan. Since Mike is not too far from me and is bored of them I’d help get rid of them. I’ll gladly pay the shipping cost, you know, just trying to help out here 🤣🤣🤣

I ended up taking mine off and has been the right move. They seem to bind up no matter what I did.
Sparky-(Admin) 21,315 #10 Posted July 3, 2023 Attention all you vultures: The big fat AG’s are not going anywhere ! But seriously, they’ll end up something around here eventually. Maybe even back on this machine? Who knows… I got bored and wanted a change, history shows I’ll get bored again 1

Sparky-(Admin) 21,315 #13 Posted July 3, 2023 Just put fatter fronts on it, looks a bit more proportional now. 6
Darb1964 1,042 #14 Posted July 3, 2023 21 minutes ago, ebinmaine said: Can you please elaborate on that? I picked the tractor up very used and it had different brand tires on it but the same size. They didn't hold air well so I had to air them up and tighten up the lugs before each use. They would make crunching noises and loosen up under very little stress i tried the air pressure differences like you mentioned, it did help some. All was probably a factor, I had a pair of good tires and rims so I put them on and with a lot of weight it works very good. Don't need as much clearance either, amazing how many places I can get with the singles on.

wallfish 16,994 #17 Posted July 3, 2023 Told Sparky that duals and a stack is like trying to look cool while drinking out of a straw and wearing a turtleneck shirt.

ri702bill 8,316 #20 Posted July 3, 2023 And glad to see 5 bolt hubs, not the winged flimsy 3 bolt 702 style (that would NOT hold up to the added side load) There is NO way to look cool chasing a runaway pair of tires and rims down a hill while attempting not to drop your straw...

squonk 41,079 #23 Posted July 4, 2023 Thinner the better. Takes up lees room for storage (more tractors!) Takes up less room on trailer (more tractors!) Takes up less room in pants ( more wolf whistles!) 1

Mike, I know this thread is about you switching over to duals, but the more I look at this tractor the more I want to take an old C-101 roller I have tucked back in the pole barn and put a pullstart motor on it. Thank you for the inspiration I think that will be my next Wheel Horse project. 2
