Wish you were closer Thanks Richie, I thought about getting a 953 or similar axle but the one I want to use is 2" longer and only has a 3" drop. I think that axle would make the frame too high? I ordered the 2x2x3/8 angle iron for the frame today and dug around on the metal storage rack and found a piece of 2x3x1/4 tube steel to make the axle and some round stock to make the spindle and axle pin supports. Maybe UTV type with some tube frame ????? 8 ft is a long one. I'm going for a 3x5 dump bed but I'm short legged at 5'7" so it may shorten up a little. I don't have a supply of parts tractors so the tires may need to be sourced new. Maybe dual ags and tri ribs. ebinmaine 67,404 #40 Posted July 6, 2023 At low speeds it won't hurt much to have the wheelbase a touch too long for a given Ackerman angle. Our long wheelbase semi trucks are a prime example. At. Low. Speeds. When I'm turning very sharp into a parking spot or driveway the front of the trucks definitely scrubs some. Unavoidable. That scrubbing can be negated some on a tractor by making the front wheels tilt out at the top a few degrees. I found that on some farm tractors and built the spindles for Colossus that way. If I did that though, I could lower the 3 speed transmission in the frame and use a belt on the front and a small driveshaft to the rear axle.
