See those rims on the step ladders. Those are a creative new “butt” steering design. You can even steer from either side

  Front axle under the engine will allow the tires to go around it so it's just a matter of getting the belt or drive line past a fully turned tire, but think your axle was made pretty wide to leave enough room.

I got that idea from you early on.

A little progress actually building. I cut some flat bar and tacked them in to keep the frame square, then I cut out the axle support brackets and drilled them with the largest bit I had. I had to hand ream to correct size. Tacked in the brackets to check the fit of the axle.

Looking good. Probably already on it but figured I would mention it…… might want to add as many “ladder” brackets as possible to keep frame flex as a minimum. When I started the rat rod I never finished, the engine weight made it lean a little to the side.

Thanks Richie. When I figure out how I want to install the jack shafts I'm going to box in the center portion of the frame between the front and rear axle. That will give me 2x2x3/8 fràme rails. 5hen I will put bracing rail to rail with 1/4 plate.

I leveled the frame, built the dash ànd worked on the axle hubs before the heat got unbearable for me.

Our contest is over the several Euonymus around the property.

To me they are fast-growing, invasive, messy, and ugly--a chainsaw would be appropriate.

To her, green and shady.

The compromise is that I can “trim” them back yearly taking ~3 hours of cutting, hauling, and chipper/shredding plus two Advil before bed.

Same here Jay.    Mrs. K would miss the fresh green holly branches and red berries at Christmas.    I just need to remember to wear heavy gloves when cleaning up the dead leaves.

I got the motor mounting plate and the grill mounting plate cut and drilled. Also got the transmission set to proper height so I can build the mounting plate later. Also made up a template for a pattern to cut out some 1/4" plate for lateral braces for the frame. Also figured out whe the drive pulley jack shaft needs to be located.

Mounted the motor and grill plate and a couple of tires to check actual clearances. Decided to check out the fender while I was at it. Fenders are going to need some work to look right.

Real wheel clearances are going to be good.

The seat frame will not work as originally designed.

@953 nut gifted me a set of nice flip up seats so I had to rethink the seat frame. I did a mock up to see what would work.

Now to build the seat frame.

They look so much better on your dump trick than they did sitting on a shelf in my shop.
