ebinmaine 67,540 #1 Posted June 27, 2023 @OldWorkHorse Steve and his other half Ariel stopped by tonight to do some tractuh stuff swapping. He brought me the rye in another thread, a frame with a 6 speed attached, and a huge Bolens plow. The rye is for Bear 🐻. The 6 speed is for BBT. They left with a pile of tools given to me by a family friend, a pile of Wheelhorse parts, a tractor, and a belly full of delicious BBT made tortellini soup. Sweet. 8

OutdoorEnvy 1,522 #5 Posted June 28, 2023 Certainly beats pushing it! @ebinmaine I noticed the tread on the front tires is reversed and was curious what the benefit of that on the front tires is?

I did try to keep it low and slow as much as possible but I couldn't get up that hill without increasing speed. 36 minutes ago, OutdoorEnvy said: Certainly beats pushing it! @ebinmaine I noticed the tread on the front tires is reversed and was curious what the benefit of that on the front tires is? AG tires are directional. They are meant to be on the axle that does the driving. There has been a fair amount of discussion over the years about which way to turn AG tires on an axle that is not powered. Theory being that if you reverse them on a steer axle they bite better. On Trina's Military Tribute tractor she has them going the traditional way to match the rears. I decided to experiment on my own because my tractor is substantially heavier than hers. I find that there is quite a bit of difference with my front tires reversed, in particular with a big chipper on the front.

I too will try that - AG's on the front of both - improved steering while plowing , snowblowing. Might make it even better.....!

Yes that's correct but not for us. @JCM Jim was originally going to get one but he's got a full house already so they're both going to Steve.
JCM 9,169 #11 Posted June 28, 2023 Hate to pass on a 400 series, but both of those were very, very tired and by the looks and condition not very well taken care of by the original owner. The thought was nice.
