Docwheelhorse 2,660 #1 Posted June 26, 2023 Hello all, Bought this at the show for $25... basically for the rims and tires. Then I noticed that not only are they deep dish they are the no slot ones. Also the 8 speed seems ok and is half full of relatively decent no water oil. I'm also considering adding this homemade up down brinly type hitch to my C160 rat... which runs great but is a rusted cobbled together mess. I just like the look of it and steam punk in general. But... look at these pics... and look close. This thing has had iron welded everywhere. Check the frame rails... look at the tierods... Lift mechanism area fish plated / trans mount... on and on.. I think this was a B80 based on shorter hood and so on. If tractors could talk..... Tony 20230626_101920.mp4 11
OutdoorEnvy 1,522 #2 Posted June 26, 2023 That thing looks tough. Shoot if the trans shifts well and with the good oil in it I would be half tempted to throw an engine in there and use it. Even a cheap 6.5hp predator engine would get that thing moving just fine. Either keep it rusty looking as it does fit the rig. But spraying it down with rust converter and then maybe a like a dull brick red top coat would be neat too. Cool find though and for $25 you can't go wrong.

kpinnc 12,065 #5 Posted June 26, 2023 I'd say there was a whole lotta beer and welding rods spent on that tractor. Shame there wasn't alot of primer/paint over time as well. Whoever did that didn't trust the strength of the frame design. A lot of thought (and work) went into the modifications, even if they don't look very clean. No matter what, the one who did that obviously enjoyed the machine. I think that's great!
ri702bill 8,327 #6 Posted June 26, 2023 (edited) Tony - worth the 25 bucks for the tires and the "entertainment" value. Added bonus is the 8 speed. I had a C81 roller I bought 10 years ago that had one "tierod" made the same way - angle iron and double nutted bolts. Bought it for the 8 speed and tires... paid $39 fot it... did not keep the tierod... Edited June 26, 2023 by ri702bill 2

I'd pay 25 clams just to stare at that for awhile trying to figure it out. 9 hours ago, Docwheelhorse said: I'm also considering adding this homemade up down brinly type hitch to my C160 rat Dude. You GOT to do that. That hitch is ridiculously cool. 1

One was a Raider that had a big hunk o metal welded onto one of the side steps. Almost like a vertical foot rest. It also had a pulley mounted in an odd place out front. Never did come up with a decent reason for it other than maybe a front cable lift?? The other tractor is one of my Tecumsehorse C160-8s. This one was setting just inside a garage door. Like a foot. The widow I got it from had no idea it was there because it was buried HARD with boat seat cushions and paperwork. Warm dry and happy mind you. Just absolutely buried... So you couldn't even see it a foot from the open garage door. How ???
Oldskool 6,644 #11 Posted June 27, 2023 It looks to me like someone somewhere along the way was never planning on letting this little tractor ever stop serving its purpose. Yes.... If it could talk it would probably talk your ear off with the decades of interesting stories of weirdness that it had taken part in. An interesting piece for sure. 2 1

ANTPER 207 #13 Posted July 8, 2023 You stole that unit. That's the most manly hitch set up I've ever seen on o WH. I'd get it running and leave the survivor look it already has.
