D_Mac 8,619 #6 Posted June 24, 2023 It's bugging me not knowing what they are. They are metal. The screw in eye hook has me confused. I thought for sure someone on here would know.

formariz 11,987 #10 Posted June 25, 2023 Frank M. Davis formed a company at about 1910 which was short lived being acquired shortly thereafter. He concentrated on micrometers and other machine tools for precise measurements and later Manafacturing combustion engines. Not much available in information about his products and there seems to be no record of the patent# although the number indicates that it would have been granted at around that period. Based on his main interests your pieces are most likely gages to precisely measure or check the accuracy of round metal items. I have no idea why it would have an eye hook designed to be fastened to wood. That could have however been added later in its life or such gage would be conveniently fastened at a place of use that way so it could be still used and not lost. They could have just hanged from a similar hook but open when stored. The rest of items obtained or the history of estate owner may give clues to its origins. 1
D_Mac 8,619 #11 Posted June 25, 2023 (edited) Who dosnt love a good mystery? I have about 6 - 10 each size. Don't think I'd ever use one for anything but didn't want to trash them either. The rest of the contents in the drawers were just your average nuts and bolts and wing nuts and eye hooks. They are also inscribed with Press Here. Weird Edited June 25, 2023 by D_Mac

John2189 453 #15 Posted June 27, 2023 Could it be screwed into the wall and a pipe or or pole slide in side it so it binds in the hole? Then you “push here “ to release it?
D_Mac 8,619 #16 Posted June 27, 2023 My friend said he looked up the patent and he believes they are broom hangers. <shrug>
