522xi mower deck

Recommended Posts

treegrower

Several years ago I converted the side discharge to rear discharge on my mower deck for mowing between rows of Christmas trees. I no longer have the trees so would like to recover the side discharge. Through cutting and welding I can just back-track and restore the deck to its original configuration, but I would rather just get another deck. .I have recently learned that the carrier suspension for the xi is different from other WH models.  Would appreciate any leads for another deck in the area of southern NH, VT or central MA

:text-welcomeconfetti:  the XI series machines are BEASTS!

@Bow_Extremeand I were just talking last night about Xi decks as he picked up my old one.  He mentioned on the 60” decks, all the shells are the same, just different Xi specific mounting brackets.  Same for others Matt?

@treegrower there is a huge show this weekend in Biglerville, PA.  I’m not sure what you have going on, but all things wheel horse are sure to be there.

Not deck or show oriented, but please make sure to check your front axle pivot pin.  They are a known weak point and hard to find worn unless you jack the FRAME of the tractor up off the ground.

Yes, the 48” & 60” shells are essentially the same as the 300/400/500 series decks.  However, the 4, frame points and upper carriage attachment are different.  I have another 48” deck but I’m in Michigan.  I’m going to use the one I bought from Kevin.

Good xi deck are pretty hard to come by. Emphasis on good.

I made a conversion carriage piece that worked real nice on a 48 inch classic deck.

Just wanted to pass the idea along.

Thanks for the pix. Looks like a pretty minor modification IMO.

It always looks easy after someone has figured out how to do it, right!

Actually not so minor unless you are (or are willing to pay for) a good welder with access to the right materials. Lots of stresses and weight on those frames so building strong is critical.

Looks good, Joe.

Everybody can't think of everything, which is why we all share on a forum like this. I wouldn't charge for my welding or submit it for prizes, but I have fabricated a number of attachments, and done many repairs over the years, all quite successfully.  This thread alone has helped more than I could have expected.

On the 60” the xi shell is same but nothing else. The drive pulley in center is on top and the opposite on the other.

for sure always something overlooked.

there was a little lol trial and error

first attempt was close but just did not work right. wanted a bolt on adapter thingie. no dice

one thing that worked was the belt for the xi 48 fit just right on the classic deck.
