ri702bill 8,326 #2 Posted June 20, 2023 That $4077 price was about the same for a good low milage used car then....
peter lena 8,631 #3 Posted June 20, 2023 @Lane Ranger back in the day when I was first lawn tractor shopping , it was the horse , C85 against the CASE big tire model . they were both what I wanted , horse won out for cheaper , still 2 k + , still have it , liked the case gearing / drive set up , they would not talk anything on price . took advantage of its solid build , regular maintiance , eliminate repedative problems , still my favorite , 41 years later , pete
JCM 9,168 #4 Posted June 20, 2023 Looks like a really good deal for $ 3529.00 for WH with deck. Copy of my receipt in 1989. Thanks @Lane Ranger
JoeM 7,874 #5 Posted June 20, 2023 I was lucky to scrap up $600 for a good used 75 model in the eighties. I could not imagine spending north of 3k for a machine. Lots of folks did.....figured they we upside down eventually. (I am glad a bunch did tho, ended up with a few of those now!) 3 1
ri702bill 8,326 #6 Posted June 20, 2023 All of mine were already old enough to vote by the time they came my way... still are... The closest to "new" is Dad's 702 that he bought used in 1965. .

moe1965 738 #8 Posted August 9, 2023 I'm always interested in seeing what some of these tractors were priced at back in the day. I'm interested to know what a 854 or a 857 went for. I currently own one of each.

Not sure what today's equivalent would be, but commercial mowers regularly top $20K now. ...and all they do is mow grass.
Horse Newbie 7,070 #10 Posted August 9, 2023 I am happy to see that a 1994 520-H was called a “SUPER” garden tractor ! Plus I bought mine in 2017 for $140 or so. It came with a 48 inch SD deck, rototiller, and a leaf vac/ trailer… I’m happy with it… 2

A while back someone posted a ’64 suggested price list and I remember thinking I was still in grade school then with no sense of the value of money beyond my weekly allowance and the $2 (with tip) that I’d occasionally get for an evening babysitting for the neighbor. Here’s the file (and thanks again to whoever posted it originally! Good to remember that ’64 was the last of the full-up round hoods (the “economy” LR continued thru ’68) and that the 854 was the most powerful stock round hood made. The larger block 10 just wouldn’t fit under there! 😉 1964 price list (1).pdf
