Wheel Questions

Recommended Posts

S416-8

I went to add the hitch to the 520 that I just picked up. The rear wheels are different they are a chrome wheel with spacers set behind them, will add pics later. The wheels on them still have the paper tags on them so they're about new. Really thinking that I would like to go back to the original wheels with the new Ags that I just bought. I would bring these to the show but trying to see what they are worth...

From what I found they look like they should be worth about $400 with the new tires.. is that about right?

Thanks

Do you have a few pictures of those wheels or some info from the tags you could share ?

You’ll need to post up pics and better info for any of us to help ya with value. Spacers  make me think that the wheels are not original to a Wheel Horse.

Chrome is not common on our wheels.

Got them. I think the wheel are just not deep dish but could be wrong. Rubbers new Carlisle Turf Savers 23x20.5x12 and the spacers are in the pic. IMG_2446.jpeg.f7fbc769596915c39c7862bc8b5f5fe4.jpegIMG_2445.jpeg.78d4c4899c56f556bd1b5ea4001eb8bf.jpeg

Issue is is that I take the spacers out and the wheels rub on the top body panel. I want to be able to run ags in the summer and then turf with the chains in the winter and no way I could do chains without the spacers..

Raise the seat pan an inch. I had a 520 like that. Ditched the spacers.

My woods beater runs 10.5" ag tires on Cub Cadet rims, but that leaves no room for chains.  You probably want the deep rims that came on some of the 520's.  As for value, I think $400 sounds a bit high and don't consider chrome to be practical for tractors.  :twocents-02cents:

The wheel in the picture isn’t chrome, it’s silver/gray paint, right? The spacers might be chromed.

You might have 10.5 tires on 9.5 (or even 8.5?) wheels. This would have the rubber overhanging the rim on both sides and cause it to rub the inner fender. I think you might be looking for the 10.5” rear wheels (a.k.a. “deep dish”) that were on later 520s (that also had swept front axles).

Definitely not WH wheels. They have the valves on the outside.

But otherwise look fine and won't matter unless you run wheel weights. A couple of my tractors have wheels like those.

The optional ag tires for a 520-H were 9.50 wide.

I’ve only seen AG’s in 8.5 and 10.5 widths. What brand were the 9.5’s ?

You are correct, my failing memory knew it was a smaller size so I had to look it up.
