Ahhh this FREE machine came with a 48 inch deck. I have yet to put it on. It's all there and soils as a rock

The 6" wheels are necessary for the 37" two blade mower deck, with 8" you can't turn left.  AFAIK none of the other implements care.

That's always something to consider. If you plan to run a tiller, 8" tires can hit the tiller PTO belt guard turning right depending on the tires you are using. Terrain matters too with articulation of the front axle.

Be aware, that 48" deck might be too much for your 10HP engine to handle.  I'm sure it depends on your grass and the terrain and a whole lot of other factors, but Wheel Horse didn't generally recommend anything less than 12 HP for that deck.

But for free, I would certainly give it a shot and see how it works. :handgestures-thumbupright:

Previous owner used it for 15 yrs. If I keep it I would never use it to mow.

Messed with the front grill. Did some more cleaning and detailing. My custom decals should arrive today or Monday and it will be finished.

So I dragged the 48 out of the shed. Looked at it. Flipped it over. I started huffing and puffing. Sat down a minute and dragged that big S.O.B right back in the shed. At least now I can say I looked it over. Seemed pretty clean and soild. Everything spun freely. That's all I need to know for now.

@ D-MAC  looking at it a couple of ways ,that deck looks like a little would get you another deck / swap , new blades, clean it up , no apparent rot , damage . find a smaller deck , in a swap . or  personally would do an engine swap 12/14 hp , that would be easy and let you use that deck  with no issues . think the overall conditition , showes interest , maintiance .  the irony is that it was free, so you decide , we all have a different say on this . good luck with your decision . pete

Grab a 60” deck and you will think the 48” is a featherweight.

Thanks Pete. Not sure what I'm going to do with it. Love to swap it for a smaller one. I personally wouldn't have any use for any size deck. I am a city dweller and cut my lawn with a push mower in about 15 mins. If I decide to sell it a deck makes it easier to sell. I also have 3 other tractors in the garage. A 1075 an 875 and a 856. So space is an issue as well.

Same here @D_Mac I need to buy or build a super-shed. And I'm to look at a horse this evening... assuming I survive yard work in this heat and get approval from accounting. "I were the pants when SHE's not around!" --J. Foxworthy.

I also have a 10x10x10 Shelter Logic. Portable Shed in the backyard that's packed full as well. Also have 3 trailers along side of the shed. Yes I need 3 of everything.

Well my custom decals didn't show up in the mail today. Most likely get them on Monday. I did apply 2 under the hood today. I also switched out the trailer hitch. The other one sank to low. Looks like it's missing a spacer. So after that I had to hook up a trailer and try it out.

Decal Day !!! So I got my package from @Vinylguytoday. As usual he knocked it out of the park. I didn't want original decals because I'm not a fan of the burgundy background color. So I want with black with ghost flames and a carbon fiber look. I think they look great. I'm very pleased. Thanks again Terry. So it's just about done now. Still have to hook up the deck. I'm in no hurry to do that. If ever, as i wont use it. So what do you guys think ? Runs as good as it looks too. Not bad for FREE !!!  Did i mention it was free? Do you guys know it was given to me for free? Might be a keeper.

The front spindles are also longer with the 6" wheels.

Most of us just change to new gas line on a 30 some year old tractor as it's most likely never been changed.

Those two 1/4" screws on the switch panel is the only ground you have for anything mounted on that panel.

Yeah, the spindles go with the wheels.  Unless you want to raise or lower.
