Belt guards

Were the belt guards ever fiberglass? The chopped up one on my 656 is fiberglass. Don’t know if it’s the original, or made from something else.

I don't think so. The only fiberglass that I know of were hoods on Seniors and early RJ's.

To me, fiberglass would not be a suitable material for that application due to the abrasive belt dragging on it. Unless there was a metal strip embedded in it for the belt to rub against...??

Completely agree with this. Abrasion on fiberglass causes it to shed glass and resin fragments--terrible on human respiratory systems.

I would get that glass belt guard off in a NY minute and discard it.

Well it doesn’t rub the belt, the previous owner made a metal C shape (shown in picture) to stop the belt from turning

Understood, and it is your tractor. I am risk averse on stuff like this and avoid potential issues as much as actual ones.

If you can't find one you've got the prints. I'd see if a local university fabrication shop has a guy that would do it for a fair price or a case of beer. 2nd choice would be a trade school. The latter would have talented people, nothing wrong with trade schools, but I think less likely to do it for pay other than maybe materials.
