If you have a sticker on the fender near the left front of the seat we can tell you the year.

Only 42, 48 & 60 inch decks fit.

Cheap aftermarket starters may be a poor choice, since it sat so long try taking it apart to clean and oil.  If that doesn’t work maybe you can find a used original.

While your working on the starter, remove the engine covers and clean the fins, and engine breather. Also the seat rear fender and lower hood stand  covers. 520 attract a lot of dirt and grass in all those areas,

I try to blow my 520 off and around those areas ever time I mow sometime I don't get it done. When I got my 520-H I removed half a bushel of dirt, oil and grass from it. When changing oil make sure no oil is left in that

half circle under the oil filter, that oil will blow up in the rear fins and attract dust a dirt.

You stole it for that price  . The seat looks in excellent shape and all the tires have been replaced at some point . Job well done :handgestures-thumbupright: .

That’s a great price IF..it’s firing on both cylinders.  The rear cylinder can be dead from a loose valve seat but the motor will still sound smooth.

The starter may be ok as well. Onans have automotive type starters with an integrated solenoid. Usually it's the solenoid that starts to stick until it fails.

Just saying it may be cheaper to take it to a starter shop than to buy another. Maybe...

Also- it's worth more than $500 even if the engine has issues. In my opinion at least.

As has already been said, remove the fender pan and fuel tank, as well as engine tins and clean it well. Cooling fins in both places need to be clean. Change oil and filters and enjoy!

@Jake the 312-8 a gree with others on the great pick up , think I would look at it in the recovery opportunity stage , verifacation of all functions , and overall looks would really  help that out , pull that seat off and give it a 303 vinyl cleaner  soak/ rub down . that paint is good for a penetrating oil soak down , let it sit a day and rub it down till dry / soft cloth , really enhance the paint .also get some sun under that deck , clean it out and give it a good penetrating oil soak down , stand it on lower, rear  edge , brace it up to the hot sun , so it soaks in the oil and kills off the grunge , that 303 vinyl cleaner on all vinyl/ plastic serfaces will bring back to black / shninny . I could spend a soild week on that , love bringing them back , pete

enjoy -- looks like 48 inch mower deck --- as noted above assuming engine and tranny, electrical, tires etc are good condition that's a terrific $ value -- washed and running that combo of tractor and deck is easy $1,000 plus - as much as 1,200-1,400 right season and right geography

I made him an offer on the tractor. I guess you’re the person that offered more. Nice find

@ @Jake the 312-8 wiring issues , look for cracked plug in connectors , often with a powerdry  dust at cracking / shorting areas . corroded connections , related safety switch , shut downs . as you go thru functional checking , take advantage of what workks , enhance / verify that function . get some alligator clip  test wires , to jump over the issue .  pete
