Racinbob 11,315 #1 Posted June 11, 2023 Last night we went to a local pub to meet some friends whose son was entertaining the folks playing his string instruments. My buddy told me he had four quarts of oil in his truck for me. All unopened. This will look good displayed in the garage along with some hardware he gave me a while back which I posted back then. 6 7
ri702bill 8,578 #2 Posted June 11, 2023 Bob - nice find!! I've seen those blister packs of WH Hardware, partially open and items missing, go for good coin on the 'Bay site. All the fluids are probaly still usable too..... After my nextdoor neighbor passed, his son was cleaning out the 3 stall garage and gave me two cans of old-time poisonous Prestone Antifreeze unopened. I recall the fall / spring ritual of draining and refilling the radiator on my Dad's 54 Dodge Coronet. Prestone in the fall, straight water in the spring....

Didn't find them, both the lubes and the hardware found me. Makes them all the better. Probably still good but they aren't getting opened.

He would have to buy new pumps every spring because they rusted stiff. Remember flatheads used 2 pumps an engine. He didn't use AF and drained the blocks every winter. I told him about water pump lubricant and he had never heard of it. I managed to find a couple of cases of it somewhere. Had a few inches of warehouse dirt on them.
