The movie showed up on our freebie cable last week.     Worth watching.

Good article - all too many REAL early Cobras met their demise in the hands of unskilled drivers - the rest were hoarded, waiting for the right "ka-ching" cashout price. Those folks were ripping mad when Caroll Shelby announced a few years back his "retirement" plan years after production ceased. Seems he squirreled away FIVE more, unassembled REAL next serial number parts for cars at various undisclosed warehouses. All would be built to order - I believe the price was a cool $5 MILLION a pop - the smug folks that thought THEY had the "last" cars made got an unpleasant surprize!!!! :angry-screaming: (or they could ante up 5 LARGE then to do so)

Great film! 24 hr at LeMans is going on at the moment.....totally different cars now.

Interestingly, we have the Petite LeMans a 10 hour endurance race just minutes from me. Have attended for many years and back in 2016 -2019 Ford was running their retro GT car. Ended in 2019 but was a hoot watching the GT's, Vipers and Corvettes competing. Corvettes still run along with Lambo's, Ferrari's, BMW, Cadillac, Mercedes,  and others...

My wife's cousin worked for a while at a shop in CT that specialized in Ferraris. One customer was a local Doctor that was not pleased at all about the stumble while accellerating with the engine cold on a fall morning. They told the Doc that unfortunately, that was inherent to the beast. Unsatisfied with the answer he got, the Doc hand wrote a letter to Mr. Enzo Ferrari himself for advise.

A few weeks later, a letter arrives from Mr. Ferrari. Enzo's reply was short and to the point. "Thank you for buying my car. Since you can afford a car like this, you probably can afford a heated garage for it"!!

Great story!  Most know I’m not a blue oval fan, but competition and a fair market make the world go round, and makes evolution happen!

Had a bunch of "Blue Oval" vehicles - still have three.

I got a pleasant surprize the first time a had to go to our Juarez MX assembly plant in 2005. There in a glass case was the entire gauge cluster for the new then second gen Ford GT40. Each was hand made in that plant by a hand picked team....
