Thompson1276 257 #1 Posted June 7, 2023 Got this tractor this past weekend to try to restore its really beat but it’s earned every part as battle scars. Once I looked at the hour meeter (after I bought it) it suprised me to see 6,353 hours on this bad boy , never seen anything that high just shows how tough these machines really are. Anyways it’s a 312 classic don’t know the year or how to check I’m use to the 60s wheel horses so first tractor I have that’s newer than anything I got but let me know is this a find or a crap shoot , taking it and my few wheel horses to the wheel horse show if you see it there 2

Sparky-(Admin) 22,058 #3 Posted June 7, 2023 That’s a lot of hours! I bet the key was left on a few times and it racked up some hours that way.

I just think if true you could remove the head and wobble the piston by hand if that were the accurate hour reading.
Ed Kennell 40,472 #7 Posted June 7, 2023 6353 hours =around 10 months. A good battery should run the hour meter that long. Parked it and left the key on.
Wheel-N-It 2,971 #8 Posted June 7, 2023 The left front tire is the original tread pattern. The left rear is the original tread pattern (can't see the right rear). The front rollers on the mowing deck are the original style for that year tractor (early 90's) It does not look like it was mowing for 200 hours per year for 31 or so years. I'm with Ed on this one, I think it was parked with the key left on. I'm guessing less than 1,000 hours, probably 650-850 Does anyone else want to guess on the real hours of this tractor?
