WheelHorse520-H 4 #1 Posted June 4, 2023 I’ve had my k321 engine rebuilt as well as the carb. Runs great when it starts but the initial start takes forever. It’ll spit and sputter multiple time like a steam engine and have to swipe the plug off once or twice from flooding then it’ll start. After the initial start I will start every time after but it’s when it sits for 2 weeks or so. Any help is appreciated
wallfish 17,492 #2 Posted June 4, 2023 Check the bottom of the carb bowl with your finger. If there fuel on it, it's leaking. Many leak but not fast enough to drip as it continues to evaporate. Fuel can also siphon back down the fuel line too. Try installing a marine primer bulb. give a squeeze or 2 before starting and the carb bowl is full instead of waiting for the pump to fill it. I've had trouble with the chinese cheapo bulbs dry rotting quickly
kpinnc 13,728 #3 Posted June 4, 2023 If your fuel tank is not mounted above the engine, a primer bulb works wonders. Aside from the annoyance of multiple start attemps, it really saves your starter and battery life.

RED-Z06 2,479 #5 Posted June 7, 2023 If its flooding...fuel delivery on cranking probably isnt a problem. Have you tried cold starting by moving the throttle to idle and not choking it? Ive had a few that just hate choke and unless they've sat a long time...really dont need but a quick revolution or 2 on choke to start.
